NAD Final Priorities Survey

Below are the 16 Priorities that NAD has for us to consider as priorities.  We (Region 1) covered 6 on COR Day 4 so we have 10 more left for Day 5 on Oct. 24, 2020.  Region 1 folks got together to discuss what we would like to do with the last 10 priorities.  We welcome other regions/delegates to participate as we would like to finish our job on Day 5 (right?).

Summary below (copied from Feta's email dated 10/6/2020 to Region 1 reps):

Discussed/Modified or whatever:

  1. Achieving Equity in Deaf Education (failed to refer to NDEC)
  2. Serving with Distinction
  3. Selection of Conference Site
  4. Accountability Task Force
  5. Talent Development Program for Deaf Interpreters of Color (referred to DST)
  6. Collaboration with BIPOC Organizations (referred to DST)

Remaining Priorities:

  1. Campaign to Spotlight the Adverse Impacts of Language Deprivation
  2. Eliminating Barriers to Quality Care for Deaf Seniors
  3. Foster Care Bill of Rights
  4. Eugenics and Eradication of Deaf People
  5. Dismantling Racism in the Deaf Community
  6. Addressing the Justice System and Law Enforcement
  7. Emergency Interpreter Service
  8. VRI and CDI
  9. Transportation Accessibility
  10. COVID19 Pandemic Response

All of the priorities can be found at https://2020virtual.nad.org/2020-proposed-priorities.  Each priority has an ASL version also if needed.  It is important that we all understand what each priority intends to accomplish and consider what NAD already is doing about it to save time.

** The survey is intended for those that did not participate in the Region 1 meeting or did not vote as a way to measure our goals for COR Day 5.  **
