New bourbon is first to put American Sign Language on bottle

First Bourbon to feature sign language on bottles

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – It may be difficult to pinpoint an exact date, but bourbon was born sometime in the 18th century.

There may be a few gaps in its history, but the one thing that’s certain is that over 90% of the world’s bourbon is produced in Kentucky and if it’s not made in the United States, it’s not bourbon.

If you ask the owner of one of Kentucky’s newest straight bourbon brands, everyone should be invited to the party.

The Kentucky Commission on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing says nearly 700,000 Kentuckians, nearly 16%, are deaf or hard of hearing. The Indiana Association of Deaf serves as an advocate for more than 400,000 deaf and hard of hearing Hoosiers.

Let’s Make College Work Better For Deaf College Students—Together.

National Deaf Center on Postsecondary Outcomes logo

At the National Deaf Center, we believe access and sense of belonging for deaf college students shouldn’t stop at the classroom door. That’s why we’re asking for your support to make these spaces accessible for all students across campuses.

Each year, we collect feedback from students and disability services staff across the country to better understand what’s working—and what still needs to change.

We’re inviting current deaf college students and recent graduates to share their experiences through two key surveys:

📌 Deaf Student Postsecondary Access and Inclusion Survey

📌 2024 Campus Career Services Survey

Both surveys help us identify gaps, improve our resources, and amplify student voices nationwide.

You can help by sharing the surveys with the deaf students you work with—and encouraging your campus career center to do the same.

You can also explore last year’s findings in our 2022-2023 survey report here.
