Are You Our Next Youth Programs Director?

The NAD Youth Programs is looking for someone who is a dynamic, energetic, and creative individual to lead our five youth programs! The Director would oversee all youth programs including: Youth Leadership Camp (YLC), Junior NAD (Jr. NAD) program, National Deaf Youth Day, Pitch Competition, and College Bowl.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts or related field.
  • At least three years of relevant professional or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in overseeing and managing youth-related events/programs.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with diverse internal and external groups.
  • Ability to handle budgets for programs and events.
  • Familiarity with theories, principles, and practices common to the field of youth development and leadership.
  • Excellent communication (written and presentation) and organizational skills.
  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL), with knowledge of deaf culture and heritage.
  • Experience or interest in grant-writing and fundraising.

Position Duties

  • Oversee and manage Jr. NAD, Youth Leadership Camp, Pitch Competition, National Deaf Youth Day, and College Bowl programs and other youth-related activities.
  • Hire and supervise youth programs staff, interns, and volunteers.
  • Participate in and support youth-related Board committees.
  • Ensure policy compliance for all youth programs and other activities.
  • Maintain youth programs database and webpages.
  • Foster continuous learning and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in youth programs activities.
  • Work closely with the NAD Communications team to develop marketing materials, social media campaigns, webpages, and other marketing and communication-related tasks.
  • Research youth trends and demographics to evaluate current programs and plan strategically for the future.
  • Develop and monitor the annual youth programs budget.
  • Conduct fundraising activities and secure sponsorships for youth-related events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Information

  • This is a full-time remote position. However, the Director will be required to travel to various NAD youth program events such as: the Youth Leadership Camp in Oregon; the Jr. NAD National Conference in rotating locations, and the location of the NAD Conferences which includes the College Bowl and Pitch competitions, and other locations as required.

The NAD, as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization, will negotiate compensation with the candidate for this position. CorpsTHAT outdoor positions

Job Spotlight: Outdoor jobs.  Feb 7, 7pm for Crew Leaders and Feb 16, 7pm for Crew Members

CorpsTHAT is reaching out to let you know about our summer job opportunities that would be a good fit for your community members through our non-profit organization CorpsTHAT. CorpsTHAT was established to create a bridge between the Deaf community and the outdoor community. 

 

We have multiple positions in our Deaf-run Conservation Corps Crew for this summer, including Crew Members and Crew Leaders. We have different positions in different locations on the east coast. The crew will be working for at least five weeks in July and August, and will work Monday through Friday with the Federal Land Management Agencies on multiple conservation-related projects. On the weekends, they will learn and participate in different recreational activities. We are looking for 25+ yr old Deaf Adults for our Crew Leader positions and 18+ yr old Deaf Adults for our Crew Member Positions. More information on each position can be found on the job descriptions in the links.

 

Our application is now accepting applicants for our Crew Leader positions, and applications for Crew Members will be open on February 10th. We would love to have your students apply for those positions and get to experience working in the outdoors with their Deaf and Hard of Hearing peers.
